1. Data controller

NorskeForum is the data controller for personal data processed in the service. Contact: post@norske.forum.

2. What data we process

  • Account data: email address, display name, optional profile picture and language preference.
  • Content: posts, comments, events, RSVPs and group memberships you create.
  • Technical logs: short-lived server logs (IP address, timestamp, request) for operations and debugging. Passwords and sign-in links are filtered out of the logs.

3. Purpose and legal basis

The data is used to provide the service: creating and securing your account, showing your content to other members, and sending necessary emails (sign-in links and confirmations). The legal basis is our agreement with you (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in secure operations (art. 6(1)(f)).

We may in the future show ads based on which group you are visiting or a member of. Such ads are contextual: we do not build interest profiles of you, do not track you across websites, and never share or sell your personal data to advertisers.

4. Cookies

We only use strictly necessary cookies: a session cookie for sign-in and an optional "remember me" cookie. No tracking or third-party cookies.

5. Processors and storage

The service is hosted on Fly.io (servers) with uploaded images in Tigris (object storage) and email delivery through our email provider. Default profile pictures are generated via DiceBear. These process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.

6. Retention

Data is stored for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, the account and all your content are deleted permanently and immediately. Technical logs are deleted on a rolling basis.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction and data portability. You can change your name, email and profile picture yourself in account settings, where you can also delete your account. For access or export requests, contact post@norske.forum. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
